How Does FocusScore Help Students?

FocusScore helps students by: (1) providing a real-time Focus Score that drops immediately when they switch to social media, creating an external interrupt signal; (2) blocking YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels from appearing during study sessions; (3) identifying peak focus hours from 30-day history so students can schedule high-stakes study during their best hours; and (4) generating a weekly AI report that identifies which platforms and times cause the most study distraction.

✦Use Cases✦

FocusScore in Every Study Scenario

📚

Essay Writing Sessions

FocusScore tracks your sustained engagement across your research tabs. When you switch to social media, your score drops in real time — giving you an immediate signal to return to your essay.

💡 Students using FocusScore for essay writing report 22% fewer interruptions per hour.
💻

Online Research

Web research on YouTube inevitably leads to recommendations. FocusScore blocks the Shorts shelf and tracks when YouTube time crosses from intentional research into passive watching.

💡 FocusScore users on average watch 67% fewer non-research YouTube videos during study sessions.
🎧

Background Study Music

If you use YouTube for study music, FocusScore recognises sustained long-form viewing as intentional and scores it appropriately — it doesn't penalise background listening.

💡 Playlist listening scores 15–20 points higher than channel-hopping behaviour.
